Ultralight aeroplane pilot

The ultralight licence lets you fly aerodynamically controlled aeroplanes up to 600 kg — across most of Europe. Training happens at Nymburk airfield, one student at a time.

A trike is the cheapest way into the air on your own licence, and the most direct flying there is — you feel every gust and see in every direction. We are the largest trike school in the country.

Flights are planned around you — your pace, your schedule, your goals. Pass the final test and the ultralight or trike licence is yours.
Before you decide
What people ask us most
Can I do the whole training in English?
Yes. Flying, briefings and the theory are all available in English, and the final examination can be taken without Czech. Most of our foreign students speak no Czech at all.
Is there an age limit?
You can start training at 15 and fly solo from 16, so the licence itself is within reach at sixteen. There is no upper limit — we have taught people well into retirement.
Do I need any flying knowledge to start?
None. We start from the very beginning — aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation and the regulations are all part of the course.
How long does it take?
Flying once a week, most people finish in a couple of months. Two or three times a week works even better. The regulation minimum is 20 flying hours for aeroplanes and 15 for trikes, though most students end up flying 25 to 40.
How demanding is the medical?
Not very — it is roughly comparable to a driving licence medical. You will need a class 2, LAPL or sport-pilot medical certificate.
